Rick Lamprecht is a “business doctor” who is the architect of several business recoveries, two of which earned Entrepreneur of the Year recognition for clients. Earlier, after rejoining Pacific Consolidated Industries, a defense prime contractor firm he co-founded many years prior, his efforts resuscitated the company from near bankruptcy with tripling of revenues and record profits, resulting in its sale for $27 million.

Earlier in his career, Rick served in various sales, marketing and manufacturing leadership positions in divisions and at the corporate level of 3 Fortune 200 firms.

Ed is a Global Human Resources Executive with 40 years business experience in a variety of industries, but with an emphasis in manufacturing and high tech. Over the past few years, Ed has consulted, and is concurrently VPHR and CHRO at two yet-to-be-funded start-ups.  Prior corporate roles include VPHR with Smith Micro Software, Newegg.com, and Quest Software.  Prior HR executive roles (corporate and business unit) were held with Solectron, Merisel, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, Symbol Technologies, Sargent Controls, Rockwell Semiconductor Products, Getty Oil, and Western Gear.

Prior to entering HR, spent nine years in manufacturing operations and production and inventory control management with Hunt–Wesson Foods, Avon, and Pacific ElectriCord.

Ed has a BA and MBA from CSULB, and received his SPHR certification from HRCI in 1997.  Ed has also been a part-time instructor in Human Resource Management in the degree program at CSULB, and currently serves on the HR Advisory Board for the College of Business at CSULB.

Military service included six years as an infantry NCO in the USMCR, 1966-1972.

Jim Gentile brings a clear understanding of strategic selling processes and their application into major blue chip OEMs. He is skilled at establishing technical customer relationships at an executive level through a deep understanding of customer & retailer needs and how they translate into technology requirements and technical selling.

Gentile served in multiple assignments as a US Navy Officer including as Commanding Officer on two NRF ships. Retired as a Captain (O-6) after final tour of Commanding Officer Pacific Logistics supporting operations in the Middle East.

John Engstrom is currently serving as a Business Opportunity Specialist with the Small Business Administration (SBA) in San Diego.

Previously he was Sr. Military Talent Acquisition Specialist for Life Technologies. Life Technologies was virtually unknown throughout the military and veteran community. Upon his arrival in March 2012, he initiated an aggressive career fair schedule and maximized speaking and networking opportunities. He developed and implemented the Military Apprenticeship Program for Life Technologies, which provided 43 transitioning military personnel in 8 months with a one-day job shadowing experience in their occupational area of interest.

As Diversity Outreach Coordinator of the Navy’s Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE). he was instrumental in increasing awareness of naval aviation throughout the United States and in helping more than 200 minority high school graduates attain tuition free NROTC college scholarships leading to a commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps.

John was the Administrative Officer for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in San Diego, and was instrumental in the roll out of TSA at the San Diego Airport. John had the most successful hiring program and new employee orientation program within TSA.

John made a successful transition from the Marine Corps into CarMax Auto Superstores as an Operations Manager, and subsequently as the Corporate Troubleshooter. He supervised a work force of 400 employees including 12 direct report managers. John implemented process improvement initiatives which resulted in a savings of more than $10  Million annually.

As a Mustang, John had a distinguished 25-year career with the U.S. Marine Corps. Heenlisted as a Private and advanced rapidly through the enlisted ranks into the SNCO ranks. He was appointed to Warrant Officer, was subsequently promoted into the Limited Duty Officer  (LDO) ranks and retired as a Major.

Rick Van Unen is a successful serial entrepreneur and CEO of Van Unen-Miersma Propane, Inc/Sierra Propane, Inc, Windmill Propane. Inc., and Postman, Inc. Rick is also a partner in Windmill Portables and Septic Service with his son, Rick Jr. in Ripon, Ca.

In his career Rick has been employed as an Investigator for the State of California, Dept of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and has held several positions at Dick Cepek, Inc, including President, and has started 12 businesses from scratch.  Rick has served and continues to serve on many boards including School Board, Propane Industry specific Insurance Company, Church Boards, and several small businesses Rick was involved in starting up.

Rick is a Marine having served a tour in Viet Nam in 1966-67. Two of his children are Marines; Sgt. Rick Van Unen, Jr. and Captain Melissa Van Unen (Lee). Rick’s daughter Melanie is a CPA.

On the personal side Rick is an avid car collector. Also he competed sport of Power Lifting in the 275# class and was inducted into the California Powerlifting Hall of Fame in 2010.

He has developed broad business and legal experience in real estate finance, acquisitions, development, construction, leasing and related business matters. His prior professional experiences include legal counsel and real estate officer for a regional golf course ownership company, land acquisitions and development project manager for an international homebuilder, in house legal counsel for a national real estate investment trust (REIT), and attorney for Southern California business and real estate law firms.

Before becoming an attorney, Bob was a Major in the United States Marine Corps: serving as a CH-53 helicopter pilot in Operation Continue Hope, Somalia, Africa and, as an activated reservist, in Operation Iraqi Freedom as an Operations Battle Captain in the Coalition Forces Command Center.

Dr. Scott Browne –

Dr. Browne is a Visiting Professor of Strategy and Management at Chapman University. Not strictly an academic, Scott brings into his classes the unique perspectives learned in his ten+ years of industry experience in sales, sales management, and operations management with Deloitte Haskins and Sells CPAs, BusinessLand Computers, Ashton-Tate Software Publishers, and Sungard Financial Systems.

Dr. Browne held teaching and administrative positions with Concordia University, Vanguard University, UC Irvine, and Loyola Marymount University prior to joining the faculty at Chapman University.

His education includes both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from University of California, Irvine.  He earned his Doctor of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.

Janis Whitaker –

Janis Whitaker is the Executive Director of VetCTAP.  She is also the owner of a results-oriented leadership training and consulting enterprise and has been in this industry for over 25 years. For 7 years, she was a Sr. Corporate Learning and Development Manager in the Medical Device Industry.

Janis is certified in numerous nationally recognized Leadership workshops and has travelled across the country providing leadership training to corporations, including several Fortune 500 Companies. Brian has a depth of exceptional leadership and senior management experience, including positions in small and large companies as well as C-level functions and high-level diplomatic assignments while serving as a Lieutenant Colonel and CH-53E pilot in the United States Marine Corps. He served with distinction as the Marine Corps Attaché in Madrid, Spain.

After transitioning in 2011, he joined Caterpillar as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.  To gain greater business exposure, he then joined a small tech company in San Diego to successfully lead targeted cross-functional projects to propel operational improvements.

James Heidrich –

Jim Heidrich entered the Marine Corps via OCS 3 weeks after graduation from college and served as a Marine Infantry Officer and commanded at every level to include 13TH MEUSOC, retiring as Colonel.

Since retirement from the Marine Corps in 2001, Jim served as Xerox Corporation as their Services Unit’s Senior Vice President for Global Talent Acquisition and Staffing and as SVP Global Operations Support/Leadership Training Executive and was the Vice President for International Service Delivery for ACS.

He was also an executive with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as its Operations Director Business Workforce and Capacity Management and Chief of Staff/PM for ITO EMEA, EDS, and Client Delivery Executive.  Prior, Jim was the VP/Program Director, RTS Guam for Raytheon Technical Services Company.

Currently, Heidrich serves as a District Manager for Farmer’s Group Insurance & Financial Solutions and is President of the James Heidrich Insurance Agency, Inc.

Jim is committed to and makes himself available to speak to any military member about transitioning, offering advice and consultation regarding life after the military.

Jonathan Hoff is a third generation almond grower and a second generation almond packer from Ripon, California, and is the CEO of Monte Vista Farming Company.  Monte Vista is a processor and marketer of California Almonds located in Denair, CA.  Monte Vista exports over 80% of the almonds it processes to 30 countries.  As a supplier to leading industrial users and retailers around the world, Jonathan deals with the nuances of international business daily.

Although he calls himself mostly an oakie/farmer who has learned to navigate through the world of international business via trial and error, he does have some education.  He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he studied Agricultural Business and Crop Science, graduating in 2004.  He also recently participated in an Executive Education program at Harvard Business School.  After graduating from Cal Poly, he returned to Ripon to help his father with the family business, Golden West Nuts, working first as a ranch manager for the company and eventually becoming CEO.  After this family decided to sell the processing business in 2010, Hoff transitioned into an operations role at Monte Vista Farming Company and eventually became its CEO.

Paul is a recently retired Principal Manager with Southern California Edison.  He joined Edison in 1991 and moved up the leadership ranks of the Information Technology Department.  His teams have delivered a wide variety of solutions across the utility with an emphasis on nuclear and conventional generation, power procurement and transmission and distribution solutions.  He also served as the Principal Manager for Computing Services and ran Edison’s data centers.

Prior to Southern California Edison, Paul was a Systems Engineer for General Dynamics Convair Division.  While at Convair, he was a member of the design engineering staff for Tomahawk sea-launched and ground-launched cruise missiles.

Paul served on U.S.S. Truxtun (CGN-35) as the Electronic Warfare Officer, Gunnery Officer and Battery Control Officer.  After the Truxtun, he did a tour with as a member of the Staff, Commander, Naval Surfaces Pacific Fleet.

Paul has as a BS in Engineering Design and Technology and a MBA in Technology Management.

Jeff Van Groningen is the President and CFO for Van Unen/Miersma Propane; and Windmill Propane.  Jeff was involved in the startup of these companies and has provided the leadership and vision which has turned these companies into one of the largest regional propane providers in California.

Jeff is currently the chairman of the Ripon Christian Schools Foundation Board and has served in various leadership capacities at the church he attends.  Jeff was employed as a Vice President/Branch Manager for the Farm Credit System prior to his involvement with Van Unen/Miersma Propane.

Joe Mendes has worked in the field of public accounting for almost 24 years and has been a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) for almost 21 years. He’s done tax work, business consulting, estate planning, and financial statement analysis for both individual and business clients. His accounting experience ranges from areas like agriculture and manufacturing to real estate and medical practices.

Joe has also been a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) for 11 years. He was the Partner in Charge of the Modesto office of a top 100 accounting firm. He currently runs his own accounting practice, Mendes & Haney, LLP, with his business partner.

Placing importance on serving the community around him, Joe has served in the Rotary Club for 17 years. He has also been the Treasurer of the Ripon Christian Foundation Board for 6 years. Joe has served on the counsel of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.  He lives in Ripon, California with his wife and three children.
